Answer III:
a)    Aurangzeb banned the playing of the pungi as it made unpleasant shrill sound.
b)    Shehnai has a better sound quality than pungi. Pungi's are said to be a little shorter and bulging in the centre whereas shehnai is a long and broader at the end.
c)     The shehnai was traditionally played in royal courts, temples and weddings. Ustaad Bismillah khan was a monarch of shehnai who brou ght this instrument onto the classical stage.
d)    Bismillah khan got his big break in 1938. The All India Radio opened in Lucknow and Bismillah khan played shehnai on radio. He then became very popular on radio. He becam e the first Indian to greet the nation with his shehnai from the Red Fort on 15 August, 1947.
e)     On 15 August 1947, Bismilla h Khan played the Raag Kaafi on his shehnai from the Red Fort. The event was a historical moment because it was the occasion of India's Independ ence from British Rule.
f)      Bismillah Khan refused the request to start a shehnai school in U.S.A as he would not live away from Hindusta n, specifically from Banaras, the river Ganga and Dumraon.
g)    The first instance is when he refused his students to start a shehnai school in U.S.A. The second instance is when Khansaab was asked by Shekhar Gupta about moving to Pakistan during the partition, he said that he would never leave Benaras.
